Black Lives Matter Protest in Elmhurst
Today was a historic day in Elmhurst.
Hundreds of us marched in solidarity with our black community and together we professed,
"We are outraged by the death of George Floyd.
We are outraged by the death of Breonna Taylor.
We are outraged by the death of Ahmaud Arbery.
We are outraged by the death of Tony McDade.
We are outraged by the deaths of countless Black people in America."
Seeking justice for the countless black lives means that we build a community that ensures these atrocities WOULD not and COULD not happen here. Our town is changing. Our community is not staying silent. And we are so proud to be a part of it #elmhurststrong.
Thank you to everyone who helped put together this event, who spoke during the rally (including our owner Melissa Garcia Villanueva), and who marched. We stand with you and this is just the beginning. We will continue to push towards a fairer and racially equitable Elmhurst. #BlackLivesMatter
